#55 ALAN TATICH, ENDICOTT, NY
#55 Latell Sprint Car
George Latell's Midget & #55 Sprint Car Circa 1932.
At this time I have 47 years of racing involvement.  I raced in a big block modified
from 1981-1985 with a career ending crash at Nazarath, PA. receiving 3 fractured
vertabrae.  I helped in the designing of Darrell Nickels limited supermodified, worked
with Doug Rundell on the suspension of his limited supermodified, designed a dwarf
car for Duane Knapp, designed a 4 cylinder modified that Dale Plank started in,
designed several asphalt modifieds that were built by Tim Murphy.  I have designed &
built my own big block dirt modified. I'm now the suspension specialist on my
nephew's Greg Tatich big block dirt modified.  As a kid I played in my uncle's (George
Tatich) old race cars that he drove at Shangri-La, 5-Mile Point, Chemung & South
Seneca Speedways in the 1940's & early 50's.  I still have his first car, a 1937 Ford
Sedan #777, from about 1947 & have photos of it at Shangri-La.  I was also on Dave
Wickham's sprint & midget pit crew in the 1970's.

Alan had recently acquired the Latell Midget to re-unite the pair built by th elate
George Latell. It's amazingly intact and only needs a rub down before hitting the
show circuit as these pictures attest. Thanks for sharing Alan.
These were the original 'modifieds', using stock parts and rebuilding them for racing.
The workmanship and attention to detail is amazing, as is the condition of this midget.
Tthe car was raced by noted drivers Paul Russo and George Bancroft. George Latell lettered the sign as well.
Frame is Z'd model T, check out the lovered bellypan and crash guards, original Ward tires, etc.
Even the Cromwell is beautiful.
George built his own 'Ram' style intake for the V8-60 and used Stromberg carbs.
Thanks Alan.
