Jeff,
Just checked out the website and the Jim Florance page of Five Mile Point pictures,
Any photo taken by Harold "Doc" Snedaker are from Glen Aubrey as he was the track
photographer there from the beginning in 1951 until 1960 when the stock cars left
and the Moderns came in. J Ralph Jones always wrote the pertininent info on his
negatives to be reproduced when the photo was developed. So any photo without the
writing is a Glen Aubrey photo. Just so you're aware.
John Henehan in the #46 was sponsored by a food distributer (maybe A.L. George)
which carried Wise Potato Chips (hence the Wise Owl on the roof) and during the first
part of the 1958 season the car looked like this. About midway through the year, he
flipped the car and crunched the owl. So he put a screen all the way around it to
protect it if it happened again. So this picture was take during early 1958.
He won the very first feature he ever raced in and lit up the owl on the "victory" lap.
The car was a light purple and white with red numbers. You're gonna get another
email from me later on as I found the
Trackside Magazine article from 1997 on Glen
Aubrey that I did. The magazine no longer exists. All the photos used are mine and
I'm scanning them and you can use them if you want. Take care.
