Spring Meeting 2010. The MASCC Spring meeting was held on April 10th at 10Am @ the Morris
Fire Department building. There were 19 members and interested parties present. Rookie
president Mike Newell presided, there is a new sheriff in town. First up was introductions as we
had some new members present including Rod Nacewicz, (cousin to Richie Evans crew chief Billy),
Ed Moyzan, and a return by Jim Hilimire who both rode up with me from the Southern Tier.
Secretary Sue Witter read the minutes from the previous meeting and John Mason relayed the
treasurers report - both were accepted. New business included the schedule which includes one
conflict on July 30 as the MVSCC is honoring Carl Carpenter at Thunder Mountain and has invited
us to race, while Penn Can is holding their Legends of Penn Can event the same evening.
Unfortunate as some of us would have liked to gone to both events, maybe mother nature will help
out.
The rest of the schedule seems ok. No other conflicts to date. But then we don't have all the dates
either. The CNYHOF was discusssed next, Jim Chase related he had some 'potential' sponsors for
his event as Gene Cole, quite understandably, is no longer interested in sponsoring the event after
last years induction being scheduled for the same date as his New Yorker 200. This is unfortunate
in my opinion, Gene sponsored this event for the past decade and was very generous in his
support, he deserved better. As it stands now, Jim has not set a date for the event nor have any
plans been revealed.
We discussed possibly racing again but came to the same realization we have for the past several
years.  There aren't enough cars to do it with, so that's tabled again as well.
Next up was the Norwich Car Museum show. President Newell related that the museum was all set
with cars from our club but after the meeting a few more historic cars were added to the display.
Next - the President and VP related they want to change the Bylaws and Rules a bit, no motions
were made nor carried.
Last item was my father suggesting we make charitable donations from the club treasury in
memory of John Clarks Father and Mike Newell father in Law, Mr. Goodrich, who both passed this
winter. Meeting was adjourned. Out in the parking lot, Rod Nacewicz hands over some photo
albums for me to scan and I look over the Linn tractor, thanks Rod. Now it's time to get on with the
season, see you at the shows and maybe a few races as well.
At least the food was good.
Seeing this Linn Tractor was the highlight of the day.
Built right in Morris, NY.
Replaced the horses in the Adirondacks logging industry.
Jim Hilimire has found my Reakes coupe.
