The 2008 Motorsports Show
Mar 7-9 opened with a
explosion. The weather
conditions weren't the best
but the fans still turned out
in force. As the show opened
on Friday with around 280
race vehicles of all forms and
70 racing organizations on
hand we can say event
organizer Joe Patrick did an
excellent job, thanks again.
Friday night was the
crowning of MS. Dirt
Motorsports and
congratulations goes out to
Jo Marie Rankin. Now let me
tell you something about the
judging part', it's not for me
as I wouldn't be able to
concentrate on why I was
there.
Saturday morning was nasty
as winds and snow was
flying every where. But the
supporters knocked the
doors down. The line was
well past the building when
we arrived. It was noted
Johnny Bensons autograph
session was canceled due to
a situation as he had to drive
the Bill Davis #27 at Atlanta.
Once inside the fans started
milling around and a few of
the former drivers stopped
by the Mid-State Antique
table to talk old times. "Irish"
Jack Murphy and Adrian
Flath had a couple funny
ones to tell. We had a lot of
complements on our display
and handed out several
membership applications
and show flyers.
On hand we had the cars of
club members. Jim and Kay
Chase with there newly
acquired #67 Ray Kennedy
coupe and their #66 - 1933
Plymouth coupe formally
driven by Jim's uncle Lee
Chase at the old Mid-State
Speedway back in the 60's.
And new member Larry
Farrell of Theresa, NY. with
his freshly restored V3 Gary
Reddick coupe from the old
Evans Mills and Watertown
days.
A thanks goes out to
members Mike Newell, John
Mason, John Clark, Jim
Chase, Jim Florance,
Richard & Sharon Parry,
Larry Farrell and his friend
Erick Leeson who stood by
the displat all week-end.
Erick has the newly found
#69 HEMI CUDA and that is
under restoration.
Sunday morning found more
snow and freezing rain and
was cold. But never the less
that fans still came and look
around buying up the last
minute parts and trying to
get the best deals they
could. After the awards at
4:00 pm it was tear down
time and head for home.
It wasn't till Sunday when I
ran into Ray Hedger that his
Feather-Lite Mod was there
and what a sight, as I had
seen it in his shop back in
Feburary and it didn't even
have the steering in it yet.
But what caught my eye and
brought a tear to it also was
this car was built in memory
of long time friend and
driver Dick Clark.
So for all of you that missed
the show because of the
weather check out our show
schedule and catch up with
us at one becaues it's always
a blast.

Thanks to Richard & Sharon Parry, Jim Chase, Jim Florence, Larry
Farrell, Eric Leeson, Mike Newell, John Mason, John Clark and all
other members who made this years show a success.
