Little York Car Show 2008.
I should've left the pool up
one more day.....Sunday Am
Dad calls and has the S33
ready. The Teardrop is on the
trailer but after one blown up
engine this year already, I
figger I want to keep the truck
as a 'spare' and decide not to
risk it. The rebuilt Buick is
running better than ever by
the way..and the air
conditioning works great,
needed it on Sunday.
Get to the gate and the fellow
who greets me says "well, you
and I see the same parking
spot, I'm ginng to turn my
back...." and I pulled in
Beautiful. I gladly threw three
bucks in the donation bucket,
the spot was worth it. Jim
Chase, Jim Florance and Jeff
Gilbert greet me at the display
they have nicely set up
featuring the CNY HOF
trophy. Jim has his 2K (The
former Gilbert 318) and the
Ray Kennedy 67 coupe on
hand and has been joined by
a nice, and stout looking '64
Thunderbolt in the race car
area. We're soon joined by me
mudder and fadder with the
S33 - apparently theyhave a
new Garman which told them
teh 'short route' was through
Fabius, Tully and a few other
towns they forgot. They could
have just asked me..
Off comes the S33, "it started
this morning" Dad says as it
won't fire. Need to replace
that Richie Cunningham
batery, the one with (8) starts
in it? Jeff Gilbert comes down
nd gives us a shove with his
truck and it fires right off,
good thing too as we're all
working up a sweat already.
We weren't alone, everybody's
working up a sweat today..
Set up and now it's time to
peruse parts and cars. Some
real nice car here today, a '51
Hudson with Twin H Power -
could've gone right on the
track like that and done well.
A straight 8 Buick for sale, a
very nice '56 Crown Vic, really
nice Flathead powered '36
Ford resto-rod, RatRods, even
a street legal SuperModified
joined us. Really some nice
cars here this day.
Parts are a little thin, as it's
been nearly everywhere these
past few years, flathead parts,
especially racing equipment,
is getting scarcer. None here
today but still good stuff;
some 1950's Era Hot Rod
mags are my first 'find', then
an 8ball shifter knob, gotta
have that, a Model T steering
wheel will look good on Alan
Tatich's wall or one of his
early sprint cars...a full box of
'Nitro' gotta have that, a Mack
truck Bulldog - beats a
greyhound for my hotrod and
then the best find of all, a '62
Super T-10 Borg Warner 4
speed, out of a Corvette no
less. Sweet, that's work good
against that monster flathead.
Some good chicken, a few
laughs at the display, a good
day. Jim Florence stops by
with some questions about a
Fish carb., like to see
that...Another fellow is by
with an offer of (3) Flat 6
cylinders for 'junk price', be
giving him a call. Car shows
are a great place for this kind
of stuff, and it turned out to
be a great day. By 2:30 it was
time to pack up the ill gotten
goodies and head out, and
crank up that AC. Did the
same thing at home for the
boys who were quite pleased
with that, at least I didn't hear
any complaints when I turned
it on... Great day, see you
next week at Craigs
Motorsports.
Jim Chase, Jeff Gilbert and Jim Florence have a nice display set up.
The Ray Kennedy #67 of Jim Chase.
Dad pulls in with the S33...
AAAANNDDD, it won't @#$%&* start...thanks for the push Jeff!
A nice lineup.
This Thunderbolt is sweet..
This has got to be a wild ride..
Street Super looks Super Fast..
Bill Dudley's brother's car, survived Pearl Harbor. Was sorry to hear from Terry Fergerson that Bill passed this past month, a great racer..
No show complete without the RaTrOdS..
With flathead power!
A real sweet '36 Ford 3 window resto-rod..
Dad points out the '51 Hudson engine..
Twin H Power!! This could've been on the track in 1951.
'56 Chrysler with push button auto was nice..
So was this '56 Crown Vic.
You could get a fastback in 1949 from Caddy..
Or a convertible from Ford.
Not a bad haul..
