On Saturday Beth O'Brien
and her family, husban
Richard and son Ayden,
paid a visit to look over the
Teardrop modified and catch
a few laps around the back
40. Beth is the Grand -
daughter of legendary
Southern Tier car owner
John Manny (Manculich)
who owned and maintained
cars out of his shop -
Manny's Service Center - in
Kirkwood NY. His drivers list
sounds like a who's who
from that area and included
Bob Quicke (1952 5MP
Champ), Gordy Struble,
'Irish' Joe Donahue, Don
Diffendorf and Mike Zopp to
name a few. John not only
owned Modifieds but Super
-Modifieds as well and
purchased the Bob Paul
Oswego classic winner for
driver Don Diffendorf in the
early 60's to compete at
both Shangri-La and
Oswego. Beth and her
family hail from Charlotte,
North Carolina where
Richard works in one of
Richard Childress's car
dealerships. Wathcing
Ayden was fun, he's four
and full of energy..and
obviously into race cars and
anything else he can get his
hands on.. Firing up the
Teardrop his eyes got wide
and full of excitement. He
literally crawled throughout
the car, inspecting every
nook and I think he came
away impressed. Another
fan made and en enjoyable
time for all, the car evne ran
great and although I doubt
we broke 30 MPH, it was
fun. Thanks for stopping by
and hope to see you all
again.
Ayden was working handles all day, and not just on this car..
