I've been remiss in reporting that former Pop Wilcox crewmember, and
all around great guy Bud Lyon passed away last month (Sept. 27) in New
Berlin, NY. Bud helped out with the Wilcox #32 from the get go and
provided the team with top notch good naturedness and hijinx.. Bud was
well known, respected and loved around the town of New Berlin, one of
those people who made the town what it was. I never heard anyone say a
bad word about him, he was always friendly and quick with a joke. My
senior year in high school we were on an 'austerity budget' and sports at
the school were not guaranteed. Businessmen, including Bud,  about
New Berlin raised the money for our sports budget and when the spring
came there was no - one to coach the baseball team. Bud, John Sherwood
and George Fitzgerald stepped up and man, did we have fun. Didn't win a
lot but we were in every game, and - man did we have fun. Bud was just
fun to be around, didn't take himself to seriously, and made everyone
around him feel good. I'd like to offer condolences to the Lyon's on their
loss, New Berlin won't be the same.
